Your data, and what we do with it.
Last updated 17 August 2026
Builders Collective Africa (“BCA”, “we”) is a community initiative — not yet a registered company — based in Nigeria and growing across the African continent. This page explains, in plain terms, what we collect when you apply to join or register for an event, why we collect it, and how to have it removed. We only describe what we actually do.
What we collect
We only collect what you type into our own forms.
When you apply to join
Your first and last name, email address, daily phone number, WhatsApp number, LinkedIn URL, a short description of what you currently do, your country of residence, your industry, and your date of birth.
When you register for an event
Your name, email address, an optional WhatsApp number, and — if you choose to share it — what you hope to take away from the session.
How you found us
When you sign up through a shared or referral link, we record which link it was — for example a speaker’s referral code or a campaign tag. This tells us which of our own channels and people bring builders in. It is not used for advertising and is never sold.
Why we collect it
- To review your application. Every application is read by a person on the BCA team.
- To run our events — to send you joining details and reminders, and to add you to the relevant event or community WhatsApp group.
- To stay in touch with occasional updates from BCA.
- We ask for your date of birth so we can celebrate your birthday with you.
- To understand which of our channels and referrers bring people in, so we know where to focus.
Who can see it
Your information is kept internal to the BCA team. We do not sell it, and we do not share it with third parties — with one honest exception: the tools we use to run the community.
- Supabase — our database provider, where your information is stored.
- WhatsApp — where we run our channel and event groups. Please note that when you are added to a WhatsApp group, other members of that group can see your phone number, as with any WhatsApp group.
Keeping it safe
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no method of storing or sending data online is ever completely secure, and we cannot promise otherwise.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as you are part of the Collective. If you would like us to delete it, just ask (see below) and we will.
Your choices
You can ask us at any time to show you the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Reach us at:
Changes to this page
As BCA grows — and once we are formally incorporated — we may update this page. When we do, we will change the “last updated” date at the top.
